we collect information you provide, such as email address, username, display name, profile details, profile images, support messages, and other account information.

we collect content and activity from the service, including direct chats, public room messages, character interactions, reactions, coin balances, gifts, referrals, and app preferences such as theme.

for registered users who use homework tutors, we may keep a concise subject learning profile containing demonstrated level, strengths, learning gaps, goals, learning preferences, and recent subject evidence. we do not intend this profile to contain school, location, health, family, or other sensitive personal details.

we may collect technical information such as device type, browser, approximate location derived from network data, pages viewed, email delivery and engagement signals such as estimated opens and link clicks, log data, cookies, and similar identifiers.

we use information to run fanchat, keep users signed in, save chats, personalize character experiences, show public room activity, process coins and gifts, provide support, and communicate about the service.

we use saved subject learning progress only to adapt tutor explanations, practice, and difficulty across learning conversations.

we also use information to protect accounts, prevent abuse, debug and improve the app, measure performance, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.

to generate character replies, fanchat may send your message, relevant conversation history, character instructions, and limited account context to ai model and infrastructure providers.

do not send sensitive information that you would not want processed by fanchat or its service providers. ai replies may be reviewed or logged for safety, quality, debugging, and abuse prevention.

messages you send in public character rooms may be visible to other participants and may include your display name, username, avatar, and message activity.

direct chats are not posted to public rooms, but they are processed by fanchat and relevant providers so the chat experience can work.

we share information with vendors and service providers that help operate fanchat, including hosting, database, storage, email, analytics, security, image processing, and ai model providers.

we may disclose information when needed to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, respond to legal requests, or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, or similar business transaction.

we may share information when you direct us to do so or when you use features that are meant to be public or shared with other users.

we keep information for as long as needed to provide fanchat, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and preserve legitimate business records.

when information is no longer needed, we may delete it, de-identify it, or keep it in backups until those backups expire in the normal course.

you can update some account and profile information in the app. you can log out from settings, and you can contact us to ask about accessing, correcting, exporting, or deleting account information.

registered users can clear all saved tutor learning progress from settings without deleting tutor chat history.

browser settings may let you block or delete cookies, but some parts of fanchat may not work correctly without them.

fanchat is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. if you believe a child under 13 provided personal information, contact us so we can review it.

students should not share their school, address, phone number, exact location, passwords, private photos, or other identifying information with tutors or characters.

we use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. no online service can guarantee perfect security, so you should use care when deciding what to share.

fanchat may process and store information in countries other than where you live. those countries may have data protection rules that differ from your local rules.

we may update this policy as fanchat changes. the updated version applies when posted, unless a different effective date is stated.
